Edgar Grospiron has left his role as president of the 2030 French Alps Winter Olympics organising committee, 18 months after his appointment. The 1992 Olympic moguls champion's departure was confirmed at a board meeting on Thursday.

The committee called it a "deliberate, organised and fully assumed transition." Grospiron cited "months of tension" on LinkedIn, saying conditions were not met to continue. His tenure saw CEO Cyril Linette resign in February 2026 over "insurmountable disagreements," plus other exits. Budget cuts left "little time, little money."

In May, the Nice ice sports hub was shelved after mayor Eric Ciotti refused to convert Allianz Riviera Stadium. Ice events move to Lyon, except speed skating in Heerenveen.

French Olympic Committee president Amelie Oudea-Castera cited "governance problems" in July. Sports minister Marina Ferrari said there is "no concern," while the IOC praised Grospiron's "crucial work."
