Thousands of Manchester United fans protested inside and outside Old Trafford before Sunday's derby with Manchester City. The protest highlights anger over the club's ticketing situation and fan bans. United confirmed 685 fan accounts were banned, with a further 464 sanctioned or warned, though 468 cases were resolved after supporters provided information. Fans directed songs against minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe, believing he bears responsibility alongside the Glazer family.

Steve Compton of the 1958 Group stated the group wants the Glazers out permanently. Ratcliffe attended the game, but fans feel his involvement has not improved the situation. The club's financial position will be revealed on 23 September with full year accounts.

United's debt exceeds £1bn including outstanding transfer fees, and plans for a new stadium expected to cost over £2bn remain unfunded. Fans criticized the club for failing to apologize, describing fans receiving suspension emails without evidence. The protest underscores the tension between lifelong supporters and the club's current ownership structure.
