New York City police shot and killed 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros on Monday after she stabbed two people in Times Square, one fatally. Authorities identified the suspect as Cisneros, who had a history of mental health issues. Jessica Tisch, the NYPD commissioner, stated the attacks were "random and unprovoked." Cisneros approached a 68-year-old man and stabbed him in the abdomen, then stabbed a woman in the stomach.

Despite attempts by officers to subdue her with stun guns over approximately four minutes, Cisneros continued advancing with knives. She reportedly told police, "I'm not dropping anything, I would rather kill both of you." Both victims and Cisneros were transported to Bellevue Hospital, where Cisneros and the female victim were pronounced dead. The male victim survived with stable conditions.

Zohran Mamdani, New York City mayor, defended the officers' actions, calling them necessary to prevent a worse outcome. The investigation into the officer-involved shooting remains ongoing.
