Sierra, the AI customer service startup co-founded by Bret Taylor and Clay Bavor, has acquired Fragment, a Paris-based Y Combinator alumnus specializing in AI workflow integration. The deal marks Sierra’s third acquisition in as many months, following purchases of Opera Tech (Japan) and Receptive AI (voice agents). Fragment’s co-founders Olivier Moindrot and Guillaume Genthial will join Sierra’s team, bringing expertise to enhance agent development in Europe. Terms were undisclosed, but PitchBook estimates Fragment raised $2 million in its seed round.

Taylor, also chairman of OpenAI’s board, emphasized Fragment’s technical strengths in Sierra’s blog post. The move signals Sierra’s push to expand its AI integration toolkit for enterprise clients like Casper, Clear, and Brex. With $630 million in funding and a $10 billion valuation, Sierra aims to solidify its position as a leader in AI-driven customer service solutions.

The acquisition aligns with broader industry trends of consolidating AI startups to accelerate enterprise adoption. Fragment’s Y Combinator backing and proven track record in workflow automation make it a strategic fit for Sierra’s global ambitions.

Sierra’s aggressive acquisition strategy underscores the intensifying competition in the AI services market. As companies race to integrate AI into legacy systems, Fragment’s expertise could become a key differentiator for Sierra’s client offerings.
