Ron Conway, the legendary Silicon Valley venture capitalist behind SV Angel, revealed he has been diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. In a post on X, the 70-year-old investor announced he will be stepping back from some activities while continuing to support founders through treatments.

Conway emphasized that SV Angel will remain unchanged, with his son Topher Conway having made all investment decisions for the better part of the last decade. Another son, Ronny Conway, joined as managing partner in 2024. The firm has backed numerous successful startups including Google, Facebook, and Airbnb during Conway's tenure.

While Conway did not specify the cancer type to avoid speculation about his prognosis, he expressed optimism about his treatment at UCSF. The announcement marks a significant transition for one of tech's most influential investors who has been a fixture in Silicon Valley for over four decades.
