Accel Prosus Launch India's First 'Off-The-Map' Startup Cohort

Accel and Prosus have announced their inaugural India-focused venture capital cohort, selecting six startups tackling undefined markets like healthcare, climate, space, and longevity. The program targets companies with long development cycles and uncertain commercial paths, moving beyond conventional investment plays. Praan (Mumbai) develops air quality systems; QOSMIC (Bengaluru) creates satellite communication tech; Ethereal Exploration Guild (Bengaluru) works on reusable launch vehicles; Dognosis uses dogs' scent detection for cancer screening; Ferra offers home-based strength training; and a stealth brain-computer interface startup completes the group. Selected from over 2,000 applications, these firms received $500,000 to $2 million investments via a structure reducing early founder dilution.

The model prioritizes time for breakthroughs over immediate growth metrics, as Accel's Pratik Agarwal emphasized. Prosus matches each investment, reflecting a strategic bet on high-risk, high-reward science-led innovation in India.
