Waiv, a Paris-based medical testing startup spun out of biotech unicorn Owkin, has secured $33 million in funding to scale its AI-powered cancer diagnostics platform. The round was co-led by OTB Ventures and Alpha Intelligence Capital, with participation from Serene Data Ventures, Karista, and SistaFund. This marks a significant milestone for the company, which aims to revolutionize precision medicine through advanced AI technology.

Founded by Owkin alumni Meriem Sefta and Lionel Guillou, Waiv builds on the diagnostics team's work at Owkin, which has raised over $300 million from investors including Sanofi and Cathay Innovation. The startup is developing clinical tests that enable more precise cancer detection and testing, partnering with pharmaceutical companies, research institutions, and health providers globally. Sefta emphasized that their goal is to make accurate AI-enabled precision testing the global standard in healthcare.

The funding will support Waiv's expansion into international markets, development of new clinical tests, and deepening pharmaceutical partnerships. OTB Ventures partner Karol Szubstarski praised the company's technological advancement, calling it a breakthrough that oncology has been waiting for. With this investment, Waiv is positioned to set new standards in how cancer is understood and treated, potentially transforming the future of precision medicine.
