Berlin-based investment infrastructure startup Upvest has raised $125 million in a funding round led by Tencent and Sapphire Ventures, with existing investors Bessemer Venture Partners and BlackRock participating. The deal includes a $90 million equity round and a finalized $35 million debt facility, aiming to strengthen its platform for financial institutions seeking to replace outdated systems. Founded in 2017, Upvest offers API-based tools to banks, brokers, and wealth managers, enabling faster adoption of modern investment products.

Clients include digital banks like DKB and Santander’s Openbank, as well as fintechs such as Revolut and N26. The firm processes over 100 million client orders annually across 30+ institutions and targets profitability in the near term. Upvest plans to use the capital to expand its platform, adding support for complex tax wrappers, pensions, and AI-driven personalized investing tools.

This funding underscores growing demand for agile alternatives to Europe’s legacy banking infrastructure, positioning Upvest as a key player in modernizing financial services.
