Revolut CTO steps down as firm expands banking arm

Revolut co‑founder Vlad Yatsenko will leave his CTO post after more than a decade, moving to a non‑executive director seat on the board effective July 1. The former chief technologist will continue offering strategic and technical advice, keeping a hand in the fintech’s direction while freeing day‑to‑day oversight for a successor. The change follows a year of accelerated hiring and new market launches across Europe and Asia.

Yatsenko helped scale Revolut’s technology from a startup to a platform serving over 75 million users worldwide. He is being succeeded by Donato Lucia, a veteran of Revolut’s engineering ranks who has spent eight years building the core banking infrastructure. Lucia now leads a global team of more than 1,400 engineers responsible for the system that underpins the company’s rapid growth.

The reshuffle arrives as Revolut deepens its push into banking, lending and wealth‑management products, following the launch of UK‑based banking services and a broader drive to diversify revenue beyond payments. Keeping Yatsenko on the board provides continuity while Lucia’s operational focus should accelerate product rollout. Investors now watch how the new leadership balances tech stability with ambitious expansion.
