Matt Clifford is stepping back from day-to-day duties at Entrepreneurs First (EF), the UK accelerator he cofounded 15 years ago. EF became a unicorn after raising $200m, with a portfolio valued at over $16bn. Clifford, who served as CEO from 2011 to 2023, announced his departure on X, expressing pride in what they've built and thanking the team, investors, and founders. He'll remain involved part-time, focusing on EF's priorities and advising top AI founders.

Clifford, a former AI advisor to UK prime ministers, now chairs ARIA, the UK moonshot factory, and recently led its CEO search. His October speech urging the UK to 'make itself rich again' resonated with the tech community.
