London-based fitness tech startup Magic AI has raised £8m in fresh funding to expand into the US. The round was led by Hoxton Ventures, with participation from DeepMind co-founder Mustafa Suleyman and Google vice president Neil Mahrer. Magic AI's smart mirror uses computer vision to track workouts and provide real-time feedback.

The company previously raised $1.3m in seed funding and counts among its backers Google and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Magic AI plans to use the new capital to grow its US team and scale its hardware and software offerings. The company's CEO is Aston Wyld, and it was founded in 2021.

Magic AI competes with Tempo and Tonal in the connected fitness space. Its mirror product integrates AI coaching and personalized training programs for home users.
