Index Ventures Raises $2bn to Double Down on AI

Index Ventures has raised $2bn in fresh capital, bringing its total assets available for investment to $3.5bn. This fundraising includes a new $400m seed fund, a $900m venture fund, and an additional $700m for its existing growth vehicle. The firm is betting heavily on AI creating the next generation of global technology companies.

Founded in 1996, the London-based firm has backed industry leaders like Revolut, Adyen, Figma, and Wiz. Recent successes, including Google's acquisition of Wiz and Revolut's high-valuation secondary sale, have bolstered the firm's performance. The new capital allows Index to support founders from the first cheque to public markets across Europe, Israel, and the US.

This move comes despite a wider VC slowdown and weak exit activity. Index argues that AI is accelerating the path from idea to product, creating massive opportunities in cybersecurity, fintech, and healthcare. The firm has already increased its AI exposure by backing companies such as Mistral and Cohere.
