Mark Wang, former global chief investment officer of HSBC Life, started as Asia insurance solutions strategist at MSIM in Hong Kong this week, according to an internal memo seen by PEI. The appointment reflects intensifying competition among global asset managers to capture insurance capital allocations across the region.

Insurance companies have become pivotal limited partners for private equity firms seeking stable, long-duration capital. By adding dedicated insurance solutions strategists, managers like Morgan Stanley Investment Management aim to tailor product structures and regulatory compliance to meet insurers' specific asset-liability management needs.
