Nordic Capital buys Flowa to create water infrastructure platform

Private‑equity firm Nordic Capital agreed to purchase Flowa, a specialist in engineered water and wastewater services operating in the UK and the Nordics, from Stockholm‑listed Vestum. The deal gives the buyer a foothold in a market where utilities face massive upgrade needs.

UK water providers are slated to spend over £100bn on infrastructure over the next regulatory cycle, roughly twice the level of the previous period. Flowa runs more than 3,000 submersible and surface‑mounted pumps, positioning it as a critical supplier for upcoming projects.

Nordic Capital plans to roll Flowa into a broader platform aimed at engineered water solutions across both regions. Consolidating assets could generate economies of scale, improve procurement power, and attract additional institutional capital seeking exposure to regulated utility spend.

The acquisition underscores growing private‑equity interest in essential services, where predictable cash flows and long‑term contracts mitigate risk. Flowa’s operational footprint and the sector’s funding pipeline should enable the new platform to capture a sizable share of upcoming water‑infrastructure work.
