JF Lehman & Company has acquired a majority stake in Wellman Dynamics, a Creston, Iowa-based manufacturer of magnesium and aluminum sand castings. Wellman’s previous owner, TRM, will retain a meaningful minority ownership stake in the company following the transaction. The manufacturer produces critical components for aerospace and defense programs, supporting blue-chip OEM customers.

Wellman Dynamics, founded in 1910, provides castings for rotary wing, fixed-wing, and aeroengine programs. Its components are essential for high-performance military and commercial aircraft, where reliability is non-negotiable. This acquisition fits JF Lehman's strategy of buying established industrial players with long histories in defense contracting and complex manufacturing.

The deal gives JF Lehman control while keeping TRM invested, signaling a smooth transition. The aerospace supply chain remains a focus for private equity due to stable government spending. Watch for JFLCO to push for operational improvements or add-on acquisitions to expand Wellman's casting capabilities and customer base.
