Cortec Group is in pre-stages of a sale process for A1 Garage Door Service, a 2019 portfolio company providing residential garage door maintenance. Headquartered in Phoenix, A1 is working with Piper Sandler as sell-side adviser; the process is expected later this year. The provider generated about $90-$100 million of EBITDA over the past year, according to three sources.

Based on market growth in B2C and B2B services, Cortec should be able to command a 15x or higher EBITDA multiple, two sources said. The median multiple for B2C repair and maintenance providers over the last 12 months is 13.4x, per SIPA private Metrics. Notable investors such as Blackstone, Leonard Green, Monogram Capital and North Current Partners have been active in the garage door maintenance sector.

A1 Garage was founded in 2019 by Tommy Mello and operates with more than 700 technicians, delivering mechanical service and installation. Since Cortec’s 2019 investment, A1 has closed at least 17 add‑ons for expansion in Texas, Nevada, Colorado and Tennessee. Both Cortec Group and Piper Sandler declined to comment.
