Brookfield has agreed to acquire Aypa Power, a battery storage developer, from Blackstone Energy Transition Partners for $7 billion. The deal includes Aypa's portfolio of operating, under-construction, and contracted projects, as well as its development platform.

Jehangir Vevaina of Brookfield stated, "Battery storage is increasingly critical to the reliability and resilience of today’s energy systems." He added that integrating Aypa's platform with Brookfield's capabilities will enhance their ability to provide energy solutions to major power buyers.

Aypa Power, founded by CEO Moe Hajabed, launched its first project in 2018 and currently has 35 projects in operation or under construction. Financial advisors for the transaction included Cantor Fitzgerald & Co. and BofA, while legal counsel was provided by Kirkland & Ellis for Aypa and Blackstone, and White & Case for Brookfield.
