Advent and HarbourVest Partners are acquiring FNZ Bank in Germany alongside a consortium. FNZ Bank serves 50,000 financial advisers, 200 asset managers, and 400 distribution partners, managing €155 billion in assets under custody for 2.1 million end-customers. The deal aims to enhance FNZ Bank’s technology and operational capabilities to support growth in Germany’s retirement savings market.

FNZ Bank provides banking, custody, and regulatory services, positioning itself as a key player in Germany’s wealth management ecosystem. The aging population and retirement savings gap underscore the need for long-term investment solutions, which FNZ Bank aims to address. Post-acquisition, FNZ will maintain a long-term partnership with FNZ Bank, leveraging its technology to expand client offerings. Advisers and institutions will benefit from improved access to capital markets investing.

Ranjan Sen of Advent emphasized FNZ Bank’s strategic position: "We will bring investment experience to support its infrastructure platform and profitable growth." Alfred Dersidan highlighted Advent’s commitment to responsible ownership, aligning with regulatory and supervisory frameworks. The acquisition is expected to close in H2 2027, pending approvals. FNZ Bank will continue operating independently, ensuring continuity for partners and clients.

This acquisition reflects a focus on structural growth in Germany’s financial services sector, with FNZ Bank as a cornerstone of the market.
