The provider services M&A market is experiencing a notable shift, with deal volume approaching 50% of its peak, according to J. Kyle Brown, managing director at Brown Gibbons Lang & Company. While still below historical averages, Brown observes a tangible building of momentum, marking the first significant change since early 2023.

In a discussion with McGuire Woods partner Geoff Cockrell, Brown highlighted how investor demand in the provider services sector is evolving. This evolution includes a move from traditional TopCo MSO equity models to structures incorporating near-term incentives.

Certain subsectors are particularly attracting investor interest. These include Ambulatory Surgery Centers (ASCs), infusion services, Ear, Nose, and Throat (ENT) practices, and interventional pain management. This renewed focus signals a potential uptick in M&A activity within these specialized areas of healthcare.
