The past week saw significant venture capital activity, with two companies securing billion-dollar deals. Safe Superintelligence led the pack with a reported $5 billion financing, backed by Nvidia, to accelerate its growth in foundational AI. This Silicon Valley startup was co-founded by OpenAI's Ilya Sutskever.

Following closely, Commonwealth Fusion Systems raised $1 billion for its fusion energy technology, aiming to develop a grid-scale fusion power plant. This Massachusetts-based company has now secured a total of $4 billion in investments. Other notable funding rounds included Antora Energy ($550M for thermal energy storage), Function ($450M for health testing), and Antares ($370M for nuclear energy).

Additional substantial investments were made in AI simulation (Simile, $200M), cybersecurity (Threat Locker, $190M), and fintech (CAIS, $170M; PEX, $160M). The week concluded with Eliyan, an AI infrastructure developer, closing its Series C round at $145 million, valuing the company at $1 billion.
