South Africa's Thriston Lawrence defended his European Masters title by beating England's Paul Casey on the fourth playoff hole at Crans-sur-Sierre Golf Club in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Both finished regulation on 18-under-par, with Lawrence carding a stunning 62 to force the playoff. Casey, 49, missed four putts for victory — one on the 72nd hole and three during the first three playoff holes.

On the fourth extra hole, Casey missed a chip after finding the back edge of the green, and Lawrence sank his birdie putt to claim his third European Masters win, equalling Seve Ballesteros' record. Casey had pledged to donate his winnings to victims of the New Year's Eve fire that killed 40 people in the Swiss resort; he will now donate the runner-up prize of $412,500 (£303,543) to the Fondation Beloved. England's Harry Hall finished third at 17-under.

Lawrence, who hit eight birdies in a bogey-free final round, called it "the most emotion I have ever shown in a happy way." Casey, a LIV Golf player seeking his 16th DP World Tour win, led by six shots entering the final round but faltered early before rallying.
