Valve has released a new Steam beta featuring Big Art Mode, a UI overhaul that mimics the third-party Decky Loader tool. The optional mode replaces the traditional grid layout with a large vertical shelf at the bottom of the display, scaling highlighted game artwork to fill the background.

Alongside Big Art Mode, the beta introduces new custom screensavers and an optional personal calendar on the Home screen. Linux users benefit from compatibility information when installing unverified games, with a permanently visible compatibility tool drop-down menu supporting various Proton and Wine versions alongside the default Native runtime.

The update also improves general Steam Client startup performance and includes quality-of-life enhancements covering game recording, the in-game overlay, Steam Input, Remote Play, and system tray exit functionality. Full update notes are available on the Steam community site.

These changes continue Valve's ongoing efforts to refine Steam's interface across desktop, handheld, and Steam Deck platforms.
