Swansea City sit top of the Championship after eight games, an unexpected start to the season. Vitor Matos credits their high-pressing, energetic style rather than results for the positive beginning.

"I'm happy with the start more than the results," Matos, who won Sky Bet Championship Manager of the Month for August, told Sky Sports. "It's the style and the feeling that when you go to watch us play, you have a good feeling. We are happy when you are out, especially our fans."

Nearly a year into his role, Matos has embraced Swansea and the local community. "It's a wonderful place with a strong culture of style," he said, adding it was a key reason for joining and building connection with the squad.

The core principles were shaped during Matos' five years at Liverpool working under Jurgen Klopp as an elite development coach, alongside Pep Lijnders and Peter Krawietz. Maintaining this identity over 46 games remains the challenge, but Matos believes it comes down to mindset and making the style second nature.
