Mikel Arteta has agreed a new deal to extend his stay at Arsenal. The 44-year-old's existing contract, signed in September 2024, was due to expire next summer.

The Spaniard, appointed in 2019, has committed his future to the club and confirmation is expected during this international break. Arteta said: "We are all very much aligned; whenever the time is right, we'll get that done."

Arteta has transformed Arsenal, guiding them to their first Premier League title in 22 years last season. He also led the Gunners to only their second Champions League final, losing on penalties to Paris Saint-Germain.

Sky Sports News' Gary Cotterill said: "It's not signed yet. An agreement has been in place for a couple of weeks. I expect it to happen during the next international break."
