McGregor: Celtic a 'team of individuals' in Old Firm loss

"You saw a team and a team of individuals." Captain Callum McGregor was scathing after Celtic's 3-0 League Cup defeat to Rangers at Ibrox.

The Hoops had been unbeaten in seven domestic games. McGregor offered no excuses: "It wasn't us. The difference was you saw a team and a team of individuals. Rangers were a team. We looked like individuals who play when we got the ball, not run when you don't have the ball. You can't defend with six players, it's impossible."

The cup exit follows Celtic's Champions League qualifying loss to LASK, surrendering a 4-0 aggregate lead to lose 5-4. They host Ferencvaros in the Europa League on Thursday before Rangers visit Celtic Park on Sunday, live on *Sky Sports*.

"We've put ourselves under pressure, we need to respond," McGregor added. "We lost a big game against LASK and another on Sunday and it's not acceptable. If we want to be a good Celtic team we'll have to win the big games. So far we've been bitty and we need to fix it."

He feared it could have been worse: "You don't want fours and fives. I said to Cameron Carter-Vickers and Liam Scales, no more goals. At 3-0 you still want a chance, but if it runs to fours and fives it's a different ball game."
