Los Angeles Rams head coach Sean McVay said Sunday he expects wide receiver Puka Nacua and left tackle Alaric Jackson to play in Thursday's season opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Australia, despite ongoing legal situations for both players. "Yeah, absolutely," McVay said when asked if the pair would face the Niners. "That's what I've heard. I haven't heard anything different."

On Aug. 30, ESPN's Adam Schefter reported neither player would be placed on the commissioner exempt list, though both cases remained under NFL review. In March, a woman filed a lawsuit against Nacua alleging an "unprovoked antisemitic statement" and that he bit her shoulder. In June, Jackson was arrested on a domestic violence charge; his case was referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney's Office in July for a pre-filing diversion program.

McVay did not confirm whether defensive tackle Aaron Donald, who came out of retirement last week, would play. "We're truly taking it a day at a time," McVay said. Defensive end Myles Garrett, the reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year, will practice Sunday after missing most of training camp with knee soreness.
