The Los Angeles Chargers are adding veteran wide receiver Marquez Valdes-Scantling to their practice squad after injuries depleted their receiving corps. The move comes following a loss to the Arizona Cardinals, during which Ladd McConkey suffered a rib injury, KeAndre Lambert-Smith sustained a hamstring strain, and Derius Davis was hurt on a deep pass attempt. Lambert-Smith was placed on injured reserve Tuesday, ruling him out for at least four games.

McConkey had five catches for 82 yards before leaving the field in the third quarter after a hard hit by Mack Wilson Sr. Davis returned to the game after his shoulder injury on a Justin Herbert interception that was picked off by Andrew Wingard. Valdes-Scantling, 31, a 2018 fifth-round pick from South Florida, previously played for the Green Bay Packers, Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, New Orleans Saints, San Francisco 49ers, and Pittsburgh Steelers. He spent training camp with the Dallas Cowboys before being released at roster cutdown.

The Chargers also promoted Gary Jennings from the practice squad to the active roster on Tuesday.
