CLEVELAND -- Jose Ramirez reached 1,000 career RBIs with a solo home run in the sixth inning of the Guardians' 5-3 win over the Athletics, joining Earl Averill as the only players in club history to reach the milestone. Guardians manager Stephen Vogt praised Ramirez's consistency, noting he's the 12th active player with 1,000 RBIs and trails Averill by just 84.

Ramirez, 34, has been playing through discomfort after fracturing his left hand on June 16 against Detroit. He missed 30 games and returned without a rehab assignment, acknowledging he's not close to 100%. Despite the injury, he continues to grind daily in the training room.

The sellout crowd at Progressive Field serenaded Ramirez with the familiar "Ho-sey" chant after his home run. His image was shown on the scoreboard to salute the achievement. Ramirez remained humble, thanking God and emphasizing the team's victory as the most important part.

Rookie second baseman Travis Bazzana praised Ramirez's daily effort and high standards, noting his hustle hasn't tapered off despite his success. Ramirez has more extra-base hits (666) than any other major leaguer since 2017 and tied Shohei Ohtani for second most career games with a homer and stolen base among active players.
