Wimbledon Bans Influencers After US Open Chaos

Wimbledon will not allow an influx of influencers to avoid the disruptions seen at this year's US Open. The All England Club plans to confiscate items like ring lights that could interfere with matches. Flushing Meadows experienced interruptions from spectators using bright lighting and creating excessive noise during points.

Players including Coco Gauff and Naomi Osaka have urged spectators, some new to tennis, to observe proper etiquette, with giant screens displaying similar reminders. Although the US Open granted official accreditation to 100 content creators alongside traditional journalists, Wimbledon will not create an accreditation category for influencers or content creators. The club's entry conditions prohibit any items that may disrupt matches.

Wimbledon reviews all policies, including social media rules, annually. The US Open is known for its lively atmosphere, with music blaring from show courts and spectators frequently leaving seats during points, unlike Wimbledon's more refined environment. Additional issues at the US Open included the smell of marijuana from nearby Corona Park, which French veteran Adrian Mannarino criticized, calling the situation 'a bit of a zoo' due to constant movement, noise, and odors during play.
