Butterfly Equity entered a definitive agreement to acquire food packaging manufacturer Sabert, based in Sayreville, New Jersey. Founded in 1983, Sabert employs about 3,000 people and operates 13 manufacturing facilities globally. The deal marks Butterfly's second food packaging transaction of 2026, following the January acquisition of e Pac in San Diego.

Private equity firms Main Post Partners, Cap Vest Partners, and Apheon have been active in snacking, with deals including Main Post's investment in Stellar Snacks and Cap Vest-backed Second Nature Brands' acquisition of Tillamook Country Smoker. The NBA amended its PE ownership rule, allowing firms and executives to invest in teams simultaneously. Houlihan Lokey reported 65 snacking M&A transactions in H1 2026, up from 50 in the same period of 2025.
