Apple today seeded the release candidate version of macOS Golden Gate, arriving a week after the eighth beta. This marks the final version for developers and beta testers before the public launch.

Testers can download it via System Settings > General > Software Update, with Beta Updates enabled and a free developer account. The update introduces design improvements, including enhanced Liquid Glass opacity for readability, a transparency slider, and better shadowing for window distinction.

Apps now feature uniform toolbars, edge-to-edge sidebars, and fewer icons in menu bars. Siri has been transformed into Siri AI, a chatbot-style assistant that answers questions using world knowledge and personal data, accessible via Spotlight or a new Search interface.

Additional features include a Siri app for conversations and custom voice options on newer Macs, Visual Intelligence for on-screen queries, AI photo editing tools in Photos, AI tab organization in Safari, and automatic password updates in the Passwords app.
