Samsung has ended software and security updates for the Galaxy Watch4 and Galaxy Watch4 Classic, marking the conclusion of their five-year support lifecycle. Launched in August 2021, these were the first Galaxy watches to run Wear OS, debuting with Wear OS 4 and receiving upgrades to Wear OS 6.0 with One UI Watch 8. The final update arrived in August 2024, after which no further security patches will be issued.

This contrasts with the Galaxy Watch FE, released in 2024 as a re-launch of the 40mm Watch4 model, which remains on Samsung’s security update list. The Watch FE shares the same Exynos W920 chipset, 1.5GB RAM, and 16GB storage as the Watch4 series, and is also used in the Galaxy Watch5 lineup, which continues to receive updates. Meanwhile, newer models like the Galaxy Watch9 and Watch Ultra2 are slated for five years of OS and security support, aligning with Samsung’s current commitment.
