The upcoming iOS 27 update brings Visual Intelligence to iPhone, enabling users to split bills and customize passes in Apple Wallet more easily. Visual Intelligence reads receipts, splits the check and sends Apple Cash requests to group members. To use this feature, users must set up Apple Cash, have a compatible iPhone running iOS 27, possess an itemized receipt the camera can read and maintain contacts capable of receiving Apple Cash requests. iOS 27 also introduces a separate tool for adding physical passes to Apple Wallet using Visual Intelligence.

The camera identifies compatible passes like boarding passes, loyalty cards and tickets, then adds them to Wallet. Users can access Visual Intelligence through the Control Center by adding the control manually. To split a bill, place an itemized receipt on a flat surface, open Control Center, tap Visual Intelligence, point the camera at the receipt and tap the Split Bill with Apple Cash button.

Select contacts, review items and amounts, then send requests. Visual Intelligence parses receipts so groups can account for individual items rather than even splits. The same control scans physical passes and adds them to Apple Wallet, though some passes may still require issuer apps.

Until iOS 27's official release, the feature is available only in Public or Developer Beta.
