Apple has confirmed that macOS 27 Golden Gate will arrive on September 14, alongside iOS 27, bringing a host of new features and improvements to the Mac. The update introduces Siri AI with conversational responses, personal context, and the ability to complete complex actions across apps. A dedicated Siri app stores previous conversations, while Spotlight adds Siri AI as a search option. Visual Intelligence lets users ask Siri about onscreen content via screenshots, and Siri can generate text and provide writing feedback.

Safari automatically organizes tabs by topic and monitors webpages for changes. The Passwords app identifies weak or compromised passwords and updates credentials automatically. Parental controls add website permission requests, updated Screen Time controls, and scheduling options. Communication Safety expands protections to include graphic images and videos.

Liquid Glass receives readability and customization changes across the OS. Performance improvements are noted for AirDrop, network file browsing, Safari loading, and Mail search. macOS 27 also supports higher-resolution ultrawide displays up to 5K at 120Hz, and accessibility updates include richer VoiceOver image descriptions and automatic video captions.

The new Mac mini lineup and the M5 Mac Studio refresh will ship eight days after the OS release.
