Apple Intelligence May Enable Face ID in Future iPhone Duo

A new report predicts Apple wants to replace the iPhone Duo's Touch ID with Face ID as soon as possible. The current slim chassis prevents fitting standard Face ID components. Now Bloomberg suggests Apple will work to add Face ID to future iPhone Duo generations.

The report indicates Apple Intelligence could be part of the solution. AI could help process image data, allowing less sophisticated depth-sensing camera systems. This would permit smaller physical Face ID components.

The prediction suggests this change will not happen until the third generation of the iPhone Duo. By then, the model is also expected to gain a telephoto camera. The suggestion of AI augmenting hardware fits Apple's ability to control software and hardware together.

Touch ID remains the most apparent compromise in the iPhone Duo due to its slim design constraints.
