Samsung has reportedly delayed the global release of its One UI 9 (Android 17) update for Galaxy users. The company originally planned to release the update on September 21, but missed the date, and quietly changed its new plans twice. Samsung went from a September 28 possibility to a general "September 2026" window, but time is running out. One UI 9 has been in testing for five months, and users were eagerly awaiting the release of the next major Android software.

Reactions have been in an uproar across social media and publications early today (Sept. 22). Samsung has reportedly delayed its major Android update, and we have a general timeline for when to expect it. Reports have been fast and furious on social media; however, we're getting started with a post by Sammy Guru. The post reminds us that Samsung originally announced One UI 9's arrival last week, on September 16. The Android 17 update was supposed to begin rolling out globally to more users on September 21 (yesterday), but that didn't happen.

This is where things get strange. Tarun Vats brought this up on X, too, stating that Samsung Thailand's blog changed the original September 21 date to September 28. However, early this morning, the company changed the date once again. Now, September 28 is no longer present. Samsung has replaced this missed date with a general "September 2026" launch window. The blog reads, "In Thailand, the update will first be available on the Galaxy S26 series, Galaxy S25 series, and Galaxy Z7 series within September, with further updates to the Galaxy S23 FE later this year."

It's hard to think one way or the other right now. Either Samsung is still sticking to this delayed September 28 date, or we're going to see it even later. However, Samsung can't go too late into the month. September only has 30 days. So we'll either see the update on the 28th, 29th, or 30th. Either way, this development is extremely disappointing.
