Lenovo is taking on the Mac Book Neo with a colorful new laptop – the Idea Pad Vibe. Announced at Lenovo Innovation World ahead of IFA, the Lenovo Idea Pad Vibe is squarely aimed at Apple’s most affordable and incredibly popular Mac Book Neo, and it puts up a good fight on paper. The laptop can be outfitted with either a 14-inch or 15-inch OLED display and measures in at 14.9mm thick and from 2.87lbs.

Thicker and bigger than Apple’s laptop, but not all that much heavier, at least in its starting weight. Lenovo says the Vibe will be available in both plastic and metal variations. It sure looks the part, though, with Lenovo teaming up with Pantone to offer 7 different color options for the Idea Pad Vibe including: Dreamy Violet, Spicy Gold, Zen Green, Chill Blue, Radiant Coral, Moody Blue, Lowkey Grey.

The keyboard also features interchangeable keycaps so you can customize the look with some fun color combinations. These are all metal versions Pretty colors only matter so much, though, and Lenovo has stacked this laptop with a pretty enticing setup. You get a pair of USB-A ports, an HDMI port, two USB-C ports, a headphone jack, and even a micro SD card reader.

There’s a 5MP webcam (with physical privacy cover), an optional keyboard backlight, and an optional touchscreen on the 15-inch size. But what’s under the hood? You can pick between an AMD Ryzen AI 400 chip or a Qualcomm Snapdragon X chip. The AMD model supports up to 32GB of RAM which can be upgraded by the end user.

Configurations also include up to 1TB of storage, also upgradable and featuring dual slots. The Snapdragon version supports up to 24GB of RAM and, while the storage is still upgradable, the RAM is not. Lenovo says to also expect an Intel version in the future.

The Lenovo Idea Pad Vibe is launching in two initial waves. AMD models will be available in October, with Snapdragon to follow in November. Both will start at $699.99, matching the price of the Mac Book Neo since Apple’s RAM-induced price hike.
