Apple TV today announced that French-language drama “Carême” has been renewed for a second season, with filming expected to start next week in Paris. The show, starring Benjamin Voisin, debuted in April last year and ran for 8 episodes with a 7.9/10 average on IMDb.

The drama is based on Ian Kelly’s “Carême: The First Celebrity Chef” book and is currently nominated for an International Emmy Award in the Drama Series category, as well as two Hollywood Music in Media Awards (HMMA) for its original score and main title. The 54th International Emmy Awards Gala is set for November 23 in New York City, while the 17th annual HMAA will be held on November 18 in Hollywood.

Apple TV describes the show’s premise: “Carême” follows the thrilling story of the world’s first celebrity chef, Antonin Carême (Voisin), who rose from humble beginnings in Paris to the height of culinary stardom in Napoleon’s Europe. His talent attracts powerful politicians who use him as a spy for France. Carême can choose revenge or have it all — women, wealth, fame — but at what cost?

The platform didn’t announce a release date for the second season. Apple TV is available for $14.99 per month or as part of the Apple One bundle.
