Apple has added new hardware identifiers for iPhones, iPads, Macs, and other devices, some of which could be announced as soon as tomorrow at its “Surprise and Shine” event. Here are the details.

With less than 24 hours to go until Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” event, the company appears to be preparing its back end for upcoming devices. As spotted by Aaron Perris on X, Apple has added nearly 40 new hardware identifiers to its backend, including seven for iPhones.

Interestingly, the new iPhone hardware identifiers include one more identifier than the six models currently rumored to make up the full iPhone 18 lineup. Current rumors point to three iPhones being announced tomorrow (iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, iPhone Ultra), with the rest of the lineup expected to be announced early next year (iPhone 18, iPhone Air 2, iPhone 18e). That said, it is possible that the extra hardware identifier could simply be a variant of one of the six other devices.

Back to the list, it also features nine Mac identifiers, eight for iPads, nine for Apple Watches, one for Apple TV, and three for products in Apple’s Home Accessory category. While most of the identifiers cannot yet be tied to specific devices, some align with products Apple is known to be developing and could announce as early as tomorrow. That includes the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4, a new Apple TV, the long-rumored smart home hub, M6-powered iMac and MacBook Pro models, and a new OLED iPad mini, among others.
