Lady Gaga Promotes FamilyMart Jobs in Japan

Japanese convenience store chain FamilyMart has enlisted global pop megastar Lady Gaga to boost staff recruitment efforts amid Japan's acute labour shortage. In a 30-second commercial, Gaga, wearing a custom navy leather uniform and white platform stilettos, hands out famichiki fried chicken and mops floors while asking viewers 'Why not work at Family Mart' in Japanese. The ad features android-looking versions of herself restocking shelves with products like cup noodles and curry packets.

Gaga expressed her love for Japan, saying 'I love everything about Japan... the culture, the love, the spirit, the tradition, everything is so rich and beautiful.' The campaign represents a turning point in recruitment advertising, as corporate Japan increasingly focuses marketing on attracting workers rather than promoting products. FamilyMart currently advertises 10,481 part-time jobs across 16,455 stores in Japan, refreshing its uniform for the first time in a decade to make its workplace more appealing to potential jobseekers.
