Venezuelan acting President Delcy Rodríguez addressed the UN General Assembly, declaring Venezuela is on a path to free elections. She described the transition as "orderly, institutional and verifiable" following her recent meeting with US President Donald Trump. Rodríguez’s remarks signal a deepening rapprochement with Washington after the capture of Nicolás Maduro.

She emphasized the process would include justice system overhaul and guarantees for political participation, though she stopped short of setting a timetable, stating Venezuelans would determine the vote timing. The UN trip also included meetings with António Guterres and Caribbean leaders. Meanwhile, supporters of the Socialist Party marched in Caracas, while students demanded the return of opposition figure María Corina Machado, who has been barred from traveling.

Rodríguez became the first Venezuelan leader to speak at the Assembly since Maduro in 2018. Her government seeks to restore international ties and restructure sovereign debt with US cooperation.
