Myanmar deported American businessman Adam Castillo on Wednesday evening, ending a three-month detention for breach of trust. Authorities said the move was aimed at preserving diplomatic relations with the United States. Castillo, former president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Myanmar, was taken into custody in June upon returning from a tour promoting his book.

He was held under Section 409 of the penal code for allegedly violating "restrictive provisions" outlined in the constitution of Am Cham Myanmar, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Information.
