Morgan Stanley bank analyst Betsy Graseck announced her retirement after a four-decade career with the firm. Graseck, global head of banks and diversified finance research, plans to depart in February. She began her career in the firm's fixed-income analysts program and later led the Japan financials research team in the 1990s.

Graseck also managed US technology analysts during the dot-com era and spent two decades covering US banks. In a statement, she reflected on navigating 40 years of economic cycles, calling the experience fuel for her passion. Katy Huberty, the firm's global director of research, praised Graseck as a top-ranked analyst known for intellectual curiosity and rigorous analysis.

Graseck departed Morgan Stanley briefly to earn an MBA from Columbia University before returning. She was a consistent voice on bank earnings calls, noted for probing questions in a male-dominated field.
