London-based Ghana International Bank Plc plans to expand into the US as American interest in African projects grows, new CEO Ian Greenstreet said. The bank, whose main shareholder is the Ghanaian central bank, aims to connect investors with bankable projects tied to critical minerals, a priority for the Trump administration. Greenstreet said GHIB's expertise in gold, manganese, lithium, iron ore, and cocoa positions it to reduce the friction of doing business in Africa.

The bank has debt deals "oven-ready" for investors as Greenstreet tours the US, seeking partners to deliver the full package. GHIB's assets rose 9% to £1.2 billion last year, with net profit up 29% to £5.4 million. The bank is also expanding across Africa through central bank partnerships and correspondent banking services, while developing technology to speed up transactions under US know-your-customer rules.

Greenstreet noted demand for yuan borrowing has yet to materialize.
