Larry Ellison has pledged 67 million more shares of Oracle Corp. as collateral for personal loans than he did at the same time last year, according to an Oracle proxy filing on Friday. The increase represents a 19% rise in pledged shares since 2025, valued at about $9.2 billion based on Oracle's closing price of $137.10.

Ellison is helping his son David's company, Paramount Skydance Corp., acquire Warner Bros. Discovery Inc. in a deal valued at $111 billion. The Ellisons have committed $47 billion in equity funding, with about $24 billion coming from three Middle Eastern sovereign wealth funds. Paramount is also seeking debt financing.

A spokesperson for Oracle declined to comment. Paramount is nearing completion of its deal for Warner Bros. after settling with 12 state attorneys general and the Writers Guild union who had sued to block the merger.

Oracle's rules forbid officers and directors from pledging shares as collateral, with an exception for Larry Ellison, who serves as executive chair and chief technology officer. Total pledged stock now represents about 36% of Ellison's 1.16 billion shares. The 82-year-old recently announced plans to sell up to $7.5 billion in Oracle stock but quickly canceled them.
