China Coking Coal Prices Surge 46% in August on Supply Crunch

Chinese coking coal prices were heading for the biggest monthly gain on record, as supply of the steelmaking raw material tightens on the back of output disruptions and tougher safety checks. Futures in Dalian were on track to add about 46% in August, the most since the contract was launched in March 2013. The previous monthly record of nearly 38% was set in July 2025.
