L Catterton is close to acquiring a controlling stake in Hyrox, the fast-growing fitness competition brand, according to sources cited by Bloomberg. An agreement may be reached soon. Launched in Hamburg in 2017, Hyrox stages mass-participation fitness races where competitors alternate between runs and workout stations, becoming one of the fastest-growing participation sports globally. Its momentum is increasingly global, with Hong Kong set to host the 2027 World Championships — the first time outside Europe or North America.

L Catterton's consumer portfolio already includes Equinox fitness clubs and Hydrow, the connected rowing-machine maker, and last year it invested in L.A.B. Golf, a maker of high-tech putters. Hyrox is owned by the Swiss sports-marketing group Infront Sports & Media, which counts China's Dalian Wanda Group among its backers. Bloomberg reported in October that a consortium led by Boyu Capital was in talks to acquire Infront. A representative for Dalian Wanda declined to comment, while Hyrox and Infront did not respond to Bloomberg's requests. Sky News reported in June that L Catterton was in talks to buy a stake in Hyrox, with discussions now approaching a conclusion.
