Coco Gauff reached the US Open fourth round for a fifth consecutive year, overcoming a slow start against Bucsa to extend her winning streak to eight straight-set WTA Tour-level victories. The 22-year-old, who became the first American teenager to win the US Open since Serena Williams in 1999, recovered from a 3-1 deficit in the first set and responded immediately after being broken in the second. "I feel like I'm used to getting to the second week now," Gauff said. "Last year, I put so much pressure on myself. I'm enjoying the experience out here."

Madison Keys, appearing poised for her first fourth-round appearance at her home slam since 2023, squandered a commanding third-set lead against Olympic champion Zheng. Despite holding a match point, Keys lost each of the final seven games in a 1-6 7-6(7-3) 7-5 defeat. "I obviously got off to a really good lead, and then I got really scared, like I couldn't swing [the racquet]. I felt like I couldn't play tennis anymore," Keys said. The 31-year-old, who lost the 2017 US Open final to Sloane Stephens, has exited in the fourth round at the other three majors in 2026.

Amanda Anisimova, last year's US Open finalist, was defeated in straight sets by 24th seed Anastasia Potapova. The 25-year-old Russian-born Austrian broke Anisimova's serve twice in the first set and four times in a fluctuating second set, leaving the American visibly frustrated on court.
