A British racing driver, Ollie Millroy, is alive thanks to rival Loek Hartog, who pulled him from a burning Ferrari during the China GT Championship in Shanghai. Millroy suffered five broken ribs, a broken collarbone, broken hand, broken finger, and a bruised lung. "I am still alive tonight, entirely thanks to one man," Millroy wrote on Instagram. Hartog abandoned his own vehicle mid-race and used a fire extinguisher to douse flames before dragging Millroy to safety.

"Loek Hartog stopped instantly with no flag marshals or fire crews in sight, and risked his own life to get me out of the car," Millroy said.

Organisers said they will review the incident and improve safety protocols. Millroy's team, AAI Motorsport, announced it will no longer participate in China GT races, citing negligence and poor safety standards. "No timely and effective firefighting and rescue operations were seen," the team stated.

Hartog said, "When I saw a car turning into a huge fireball, there wasn't really a decision to make." He added, "I genuinely believed the driver might not be able to get out by himself."

Millroy called Hartog's actions a selfless act, telling him, "Thank you Loek. I owe you my life."
