Premier League clubs have broken their all-time summer transfer record, with spending reaching £3.198bn. This summer, 35% of deals involving a transfer fee were between Premier League clubs, up from 30% last year, rising to 44% when buying from lower divisions. The league's net spend remains over £1bn, the highest in Europe, despite major sales leaving the division.

Bundesliga and Ligue 1 clubs received more in fees than they spent. Most major Premier League signings came from rival clubs, including Rogers, Anderson, Tonali to Spurs, Guimaraes to Arsenal, Baleba to Manchester United, and Fernandes and Savio to Tottenham. Reasons for the trend include the appeal of proven Premier League players, failed big-money signings from abroad, possible accounting deals between clubs like Chelsea and Villa, and higher fees demanded by foreign clubs when English teams show interest.
